Requirements for NYS REALTORS®


These are the topic class requirements for renewing a NYS Real Estate License. These requirements can be met by taking NYSAR DOS approved classes that contain these topics, and/or by taking stand alone topic classes.


  • 3 Hours of Fair Housing
  • 1 Hour of Agency (if this is a first time renewal you need 2 hours)
  • 2.5 Hours of Ethical Business Practices
  • 1 Hour of Recent Legal Issues
  • 2 Hours Implicit Bias
  • 2 Hours Cultural Competency


You also need to complete 11 hours of elective classes approved for CE credit by the NYS DOS.


Total hours for renewing a NYS RE license is 22.5 hour of CE credit every two year.

How to take classes:
SIBOR members can take classes for FREE throughout the year. Check the Education Calendar online for class schedules.
You can also take classes online at the CESHOP
Lastly, you can go to the Brooklyn School of Real Estate and take classes there in person.
